“I’ve had really good feedback from the guys who have attended. They’ve got some key takeaways that they’re going to use when they get back to their teams.”
– Kellie McLeod-Kake
“The biggest benefit is the mindset shift to go from the super doer to the leader of others. ‘How do I empower, how do I motivate, how do I get the work done through others.'”
– Chad Tuoro
With a strong group of talented tradespeople stepping up from the tools into leadership roles, McKay recognised that technical excellence alone isn’t enough to succeed as a supervisor.
The shift from “doing the work” to leading others to do it is one of the toughest transitions in any business, and one that requires a differnet skillset.
That’s why McKay partnered with the EMA to design a tailored supervision programme focused on the real challenges their people face on the job.
The goal was to equip high-performing team members with the confidence, mindset and practical tools to become effective leaders of people.
From communication and conflict management to motivation, feedback, and decision-making, the training is built around the everyday realities of supervising in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment.
Rather than relying on off-the-shelf courses, McKay worked closely with EMA to customise a supervision programme, ensuring the learning was relevant, practical, and immediately useful back on site.
The emphasis was on making the crucial mindset shift, from being the “super doer” to becoming someone who empowers others, gets results through the team, and brings out the best in people.
